The Arrogant Are Blessed

churchleaders.com
I don't understand it when arrogant people get blessed and humble ones mostly don't. In fact, I seldom see meek people get blessed. Instead, I've seen lots of boastful, egocentric and egoistic people who crave people's applause and admiration get blessed with a lot of money and perks.

Doesn't the bible say God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble? But it looks like they get all the favors. Looks like God supports them.

Their arrogant talks are a pain to the ears. Worse, they use you to lift themselves higher on their pedestals--even if you are never in competition against them.

And each time, they win! And God seems to just leave you there bullied and battered, a hapless victim of conceited people. And it keeps on like that for years--they use you and bully you and they get more moneyed, promoted and "blessed," boasting more of their possessions--underscoring the fact that you have none.

"Look at me, I'm so blessed! And look at you!" That goes on for years. You hope God would even the score somewhat and start blessing you. Nothing.

You wait for God to do as he promised--give more grace to the humble and oppose the proud--to no avail. You just get more frustrated. Nothing happens to the proud except get more blessed, and nothing happens to you as in--nothing.

It's maddening at times. You wonder about the things you read about in the bible. So, where's the "gives more grace to the humble" part?

The proud always seem favored.

It's not that I want the arrogant punished. Far from it. That isn't my prayer. What I want is, if the arrogant keep getting blessed, so should I be. If I get the blessings that would keep me safe from the arrogant, I won't care if the arrogant get more blessed.

As long as I'm blessed enough (with something to spare), that would keep me and my family safe from the oppression of the arrogant.

What's really bad about this affair is, the arrogant get more blessed and you don't and they take that opportunity to use you to lift themselves up. And sometimes, you even find yourself with no option but to ask help from the arrogant.

Where's the "gives more grace to the humble" there?

Often it seems more like God opposes the humble but gives grace to the proud.

But in the end, I still strongly believe in God's Word. I turn around and determine to just look at what he says in his Word than look at the circumstances. I believe everything is a test--God tests the arrogant and gives them time to repent, and God also tests the hearts of the humble, giving them grace to hold on and keep believing despite the ugly circumstances.

In fact, I've learned how God keeps "blessing" the unrepentant as a form of  a "curse" on their lives. It's what the bible says as "making them drink wine from the cup of His wrath." So they get drunk on blessings and don't see truth clearly with a sober mind.
