Is there a right prayer style? A right prayer formula? When Churches in Korea prayed hard by shaking trees as hard as they could--and seemed to get results by that--the Filipino church followed suit. Do I really have to shake trees when praying to get results? Where is that in the bible?
And why do the rich who never pray to the true God (if ever they pray, they do it to a god or to another "Jesus Christ" whose supposed image is shown on calendars and other idolatrous items) get what they want almost without a sweat?
I know prayer ought to be simple. What matters is a contrite and believing heart. It's not how loud it is or how beautifully worded or how "holy" the voice intonation is. It's not how formal or ritually proper. What I know is, just talk to God in faith. That's how Jesus did it. And he said, "You ask anything in my Name, I will do it," [John 14.4]. I believe that with all my heart.
And yet, where is the result?
But I know prayer is not just for getting results. It's also for acknowledging your need of God, your humbleness toward him, your reverence--with or without results. I continue to pray, whether I get something from it or not.
I know a lot of believers think prayers should always get answers right away--especially answers that are seen and felt in the material world. Answers that translate to what the flesh appreciates--money, possessions, material things, increase in church membership and income, things that satisfy the ego.
But I believe answers are more answered in the spiritual realms--the LIFE of Jesus in you and manifesting his LIFE in your life.
But Lord, I also need money to pay bills with and buy necessities with while I and my family are still in this world. How should I pray to please you then and get results?
