Why Don't Smokers Get Sick Now?

When I feel as if a palpitation is impending (but thank God it does not happen, though it makes me so uncomfortable), and then I'm out there doing bible studies under the hot summer sun, and then I see smokers just leisurely puffing cigarettes and not getting sick now (or feeling sick now), I always wonder and ask. What kind of life is this?

Why can't this heart palpitation just be healed? I believe it with all my heart, but it's still not healed. But I thank God for the effective maintenance medicine I'm taking--it's a "maintenance" med as long as I'm not yet healed. So, heal me now, Lord!

This week, a gay drunk met his death one early morning when he was trying to get home. According to people in the area where he lived, he fell and hit his head hard on a hard object. He died of internal hemorrhage. He was about 30 plus. I could imagine, he had no way of repenting from sin and surrendering to Jesus. What a waste. He lived near the house where I do one of my bible studies. They say he was a good man.

Lord, I want to be healthier and stronger each day--physically, spiritually, and mentally. So with my wife and kids. We also want to be strong financially, socially, and emotionally. I want to go from glory  to glory in Christ. I don't want to grow old like some church people I see who just grown old and rotten. By your grace, help us.

I don't wish smokers to get sick or die. It's just that, if they aren't sick, more so should I. If they are sick and the sickness is not yet manifesting, well, I must not be anything like that. I should be going from healthier to much healthier! In Jesus Name!

Last week we went to the mountain city of Tagaytay and there we bought lots of fresh fruits. I love fresh fruits because I love good health, for God's glory. I bought a lot of mountain pineapples, bananas, and mangoes. We even bought goat's milk and white cheese. Hmmm! Praise God! I love health food like that! God is good! I don't smoke or get drunk, so Lord, by your grace and mercy, keep me healthy--me and my wife and kids. So with my real disciples. Make us always safe and protected, too! All for your glory!

It's also ridiculous when I see joggers who later smoke after their workout. Or gym people who smoke. It's a waste and so foolish! They just want the muscles, but not real health. It's among the most foolish things I've ever seen in life. It's like people who love their church so much and so active in it, and yet do not look for God. They just want church, not God. If you talk to them about who really God is, they won't listen if it's not according to their denominational doctrine. Smokers doing gym workouts are like that.

Smoking looks good for a while--sometimes a long, long while. And then you find out too late that you're too sick for any cure. And then you die a horrible death. Men's church is like that. There are also people who are in the right path--who don't smoke, as it were--but look sickly and weak, and smokers wonder why they are frail and tell them they need a little smoking. "Our bodies need a little cigarette smoke and alcohol," they tell you, as if they were health experts. Then they mock your being too health conscious and blame it for your seeming sickliness.

Then, one day, you just hear that they're either on their death beds looking horrible--or dead, likewise looking horrible, in their coffins. Men's church is also like that.
