How Lack of Money Makes You Compromise

keywordsuggest
My wife works in a Christian church-school. Now, a lot of times, that school, though claiming to be Christian with a "Christ-centered" mission, does a lot of worldly things. One time, it forced its teachers and staff to dance to the tune of a popular and worldly (in fact, sexy) pop music in public---right at the town center where crowds watched them. The school didn't have to require this, but to please parents and attract more enrollment, it did so.

Now, the bible teaches that we should submit to the governing authority. When Paul wrote this, the governing authority then banned Christians and worshiped idols. Daniel, in the Old Testament, submitted to the rule of a pagan king. He even allowed to be named after a Babylonina god, Bel, so he was given the name Belteshazzar [Daniel 1.7].

Thus, my wife was in a dilemma---she could defy the school and refuse to dance (that will mean being insubmissive), or dance and be worldly. She chose not to dance. In a sense, that was good. But in another sense, it wasn't exactly being free from compromise because she did not submit to the school authority. The bible is clear---we should submit to authority. No ifs or buts.

And there are many more similar instances where we are trapped and forced to compromise bible truth. I'm part of the school board, and while my wife works there, I cannot leave her alone to suffer there. She needs my support because many times, the school authority persecutes her and shames her in public for not submitting to the worldly wishes or culture of the school.

Another example. When the school's anniversary comes, included in the celebration is a dance competition, sometimes modern dance, sometimes cultural dance. One time, I was watching the event when a cultural music was played for the pupils to dance along with. I listened to the lyrics and found that the song was dedicated to an idol.

Imagine a Christian school claiming to have a Christ-centered mission-vision making its pupils dance to a music dedicated to an idol.

During our sharing time, I told my wife that the only valid reason for having a Christian school anniversary is to give God thanks for its existence and success. In this case, all a school has to do is worship God and give thanks. So, instead of doing stressful programs that are nothing but worldly, why not just do a simple worship service? After all, God seeks those who worship him in spirit and in truth. The celebration doesn't have to be expensive or sophisticated.

The school should teach pupils and the community the proper way to give thanks to God---through prayer and worship. You cannot go with the world and hope to please God.

But what can we do?

That's the school's policy and we have to submit. Going against it was also against what the bible says about submitting to authority.

Now, the question is, why are we caught in this trap? Because of lack of of money. My wife can't get out and look for another job because she's already of age. My online job is not enough to sustain our daily basic needs without supplementation from her salary as teacher. So, we have no choice but for my wife to stay.

But the question again is, why doesn't God take us out of this trap? We have been praying for decades---decades and decades---for God to rescue us. And the only way is have another income source that can help us get far away from that school so we can start to live our own lives dictated solely by God's will and Word.

We don't want God to punish anyone. In fact, the school authority seems to get more powerful and moneyed. That's why I wrote somewhere earlier on this blog that the arrogant are getting more blessed. Why?

But anyway, it's okay with me. Let God bless the arrogant more. I won't complain about that---that is, if he rescues us by giving us lots of money, enough for my wife to stop working for that school and more than enough for us to properly do the ministry God gave us---and of course for our daily expense. The repair of our dilapidated house. Paying our debts. Helping people similarly trapped.

I've been praying that God prosper us financially---specifically prosper the blogs and ebooks I've been working hard on. Is that hard for him? I don't think so. Nothing is impossible to God.

The cruel school authority is just one example. There are other people in our lives whom God blesses with money and who rule over us cruelly, treating us as garbage and dirty rags, just because we are poor. Does God have a good plan for us? Is this his only plan for us---to be slaves and trash cans of cruel people?

God himself wrote in the bible that money is the answer for everything, and money is a refuge. God, we need money, a prospering income source that never runs out, not because we love luxury and the life of the rich, but because we just want freedom from the wicked and arrogant. We just want YOU.
